In Sunday's non-league outing, the Union City Soaring Eagles (Union City, NJ) basketball squad edged the host Moore Catholic Mavericks (Staten Island, NY), by a count of 58-57.

The Soaring Eagles (5-4) will now prepare for their outing against Gill St. Bernard's (Gladstone, NJ). The Knights go into the non-league outing with a 7-1 record.

The Mavericks now hold a 8-2 record. They play next when they host St. Joseph Hill Academy for a Catholic - Brooklyn/Queens II outing on Tuesday, January 9.
