The Esparto Spartans football squad (Esparto, CA), was trounced 49-6 in Friday's league contest with the host Rio Vista Rams (Rio Vista, CA)

The Rams (4-2) will now prepare for their contest against Mesa Verde (Citrus Heights, CA). The Mavericks enter the Sierra Delta League contest with a 3-3 record. In their last contest, Mesa Verde was trounced by Woodland Christian (Woodland, CA), 42-8, in a league contest.

Coming up next, the Spartans battle the Golden Sierra Grizzlies (Garden Valley, CA) in a Sierra Delta League contest, on Friday, October 10. Esparto will attempt to better on its 0-5 season record. The Grizzlies enter the contest with a 4-2 record after their 22-20 league loss to Highlands (North Highlands, CA).
