Newport Cubs (Newport, OR) backers were pleased Saturday as they witnessed their volleyball team tip the visiting Pleasant Hill Billies (Pleasant Hill, OR), 2-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Cubs (6-6) will now prepare for their challenge against Taft (Lincoln City, OR). The Tigers come into the non-league challenge with a 11-5 record. In their last challenge, Taft edged Amity (Amity, OR), 3-2, in a league challenge.

Next, the Billies meet the Elmira Falcons (Elmira, OR) in a 3A Mountain Valley challenge, on Tuesday, October 7. Pleasant Hill will attempt to upgrade on its 8-9 season record. The Falcons go into the test with a 2-8 record after their 3-1 league loss to Creswell (Creswell, OR).
