In Saturday's non-league battle, the host Gilbert Tigers volleyball team scored a tight 1-0 triumph over the O'Connor Eagles.

The Tigers (24-5) will now prepare for their battle against Mesquite (Gilbert, AZ). The Wildcats come into the I Section II battle with a 9-16 record. In their last battle, Mesquite was edged by Liberty (Peoria, AZ), 2-0, in a non-league battle.

Next, the Eagles encounter the Kingman Bulldogs (Kingman, AZ) in a I Section III battle, on Tuesday, October 9. O'Connor will attempt to move on its 12-12 season record. The Bulldogs come into the battle with a 13-5 record after their 3-0 non-league loss to Flagstaff (Flagstaff, AZ).
