In Friday's league match, the visiting Marion Wildcats football squad scored a close 32-31 victory over the Centralia Orphans.

In their next game, the Wildcats clash with the Carbondale Terriers (Carbondale, IL) in a South Seven match, on Friday, October 14. Marion will attempt to move on its 4-3 season record. The Terriers enter the match with a 2-5 record after their 10-7 league win over Althoff Catholic (Belleville, IL).

The Orphans (5-2) will now prepare for their match against Mt. Vernon (Mt. Vernon, IL). The Rams enter the South Seven match with a 4-3 record. In their last match, Mt. Vernon was nudged by Cahokia (Cahokia, IL), 32-26, in a league match.
