The crowd at Friday's non-league contest between the Gulf Buccaneers (New Port Richey, FL) and the host Tarpon Springs Spongers (Tarpon Springs, FL), observed Gulf's football squad defeat Tarpon Springs by a count of 40-21.

The Buccaneers now own a 5-2 record. They play next when they travel to Lecanto for a 3S District 6 contest on Friday, October 14. Gulf will encounter a Panthers squad coming off a 28-7 non-league win over Crystal River (Crystal River, FL). The Panthers record now stands at 4-2.
