In Friday's league match, the host North Pitt Panthers football squad scored a close 28-27 triumph over the SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars.

The Panthers (4-4) will now prepare for their match against Eastern Wayne (Goldsboro, NC). The Warriors come into the Three Rivers 4A match with a 4-2 record. In their last battle, Eastern Wayne was tipped by SouthWest Edgecombe (Pinetops, NC), 28-21, in a league battle.

The Cougars now have a 4-3 record. They play next when they host Washington for a Three Rivers 4A battle on Friday, October 17. SouthWest Edgecombe will play a Pam Pack team coming off a 32-15 league win over North Lenoir (LaGrange, NC). The Pam Pack record now stands at 1-6.
