The Mecklenburg County Phoenix football squad scored 29 points and limited the visiting Halifax County Comets to 21 in the Phoenix league triumph on Friday.

The Phoenix now hold a 5-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Tunstall for a non-league test on Friday, October 25.

With the defeat, Halifax County drops to 1-5 on the campaign. The Comets host Tunstall (Dry Fork, VA) to meet the Trojans in a Piedmont test on Friday, October 18. The Trojans come into the test with a record of 0-7. Tunstall lost 42-0 in their recent league test against Bassett (Bassett, VA)
