In Saturday's non-league challenge, the visiting Lawrence Free State Firebirds volleyball team scored a close 2-1 victory over the De Soto Wildcats.

The Firebirds (16-12) will now prepare for their challenge against Hayden (Topeka, KS). The Wildcats enter the non-league challenge with a 21-6 record. In their last challenge, Hayden Saint Thomas Aquinas (Overland Park, KS), 0-0, in a non-league challenge.

In their next game, the Wildcats face the Gardner-Edgerton Trailblazers (Gardner, KS) in a non-league test, on Saturday, October 11. De Soto will attempt to improve on its 20-10 season record. The Trailblazers go into the test with a 19-8 record after their 3-1 league win over Lawrence Free State (Lawrence, KS).
