The crowd at Friday's league contest between the Smoky Mountain Mustangs (Sylva, NC) and the host Franklin Panthers (Franklin, NC), observed Smoky Mountain's football squad edge Franklin by a count of 20-19.

The Mustangs now own a 3-5 record. They play next when they host Tuscola for a 3A Mountain 7 contest on Friday, October 20. Smoky Mountain will encounter a Mountaineers squad coming off a 27-10 league win over Pisgah (Canton, NC). The Mountaineers record now stands at 4-4.

Coming up next, the Panthers encounter the West Henderson Falcons (Hendersonville, NC) in a 3A Mountain 7 contest, on Friday, October 20. Franklin will attempt to upgrade on its 2-6 season record.
