Independence Patriots (Coal City, WV) boosters were content Friday as they observed their football squad thwart the host Barnesville Shamrocks (Barnesville, OH), 42-21 in a non-league match.

The Patriots (6-0) will now prepare for their match against Princeton (Princeton, WV). The Tigers come into the Coalfield AA match with a 7-0 record. In their last match, Princeton defeated Woodrow Wilson (Beckley, WV), 62-35, in a league match.
