New Mexico High School Football - Highland thwarted by Belen

October 17, 2025: Belen, NM 87002

Belen Eagles (Belen, NM) fans went home in high spirits Friday as they saw their football team achieve victory over the visiting Highland Hornets (Albuquerque, NM), 20-8 in a league battle.

With the win, Belen improves its record to 4-4 on the season. The Eagles travel to Rio Grande (Albuquerque, NM) to play the Ravens in a 5A District 1 battle on Thursday, October 23. The Ravens go into the battle with a record of 0-8. Rio Grande lost 50-0 in their recent league battle against Los Alamos (Los Alamos, NM)

With the defeat, Highland drops to 5-3 on the campaign. The Hornets travel to Capital (Santa Fe, NM) to meet the Jaguars in a 5A District 1 test on Thursday, October 23. The Jaguars go into the challenge with a record of 2-6. Capital lost 28-12 in their recent league challenge against Miyamura (Gallup, NM)
