The crowd at Friday's league contest between the Marvin Ridge Mavericks (Waxhaw, NC) and the host Sun Valley Spartans (Monroe, NC), observed Marvin Ridge's football squad defeat Sun Valley by a count of 49-23.

The Mavericks now own a 7-1 record. They play next when they host Weddington for a 4A West Conference 58 contest on Friday, October 29. Marvin Ridge will encounter a Warriors squad coming off a 28-13 league win over Cuthbertson (Waxhaw, NC). The Warriors record now stands at 8-1.
