The Athens Hornets football squad scored 60 points and limited the visiting Rusk Eagles to 6 in the Hornets league triumph on Thursday.

The Hornets now sport a 6-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Center for a 4A-2 Region II District 8 test on Friday, October 31. Athens will meet a Roughriders squad coming off a 55-22 league win over Brownsboro (Brownsboro, TX). The Roughriders record now stands at 4-4.

The Eagles (1-7) will now prepare for their challenge against Carthage (Carthage, TX). The Bulldogs enter the 4A-2 Region II District 8 challenge with a 8-0 record. In their last challenge, Carthage bounced Bullard (Bullard, TX), 62-7, in a league challenge.
