Poth Pirates (Poth, TX) followers went home in high spirits Friday as they saw their football team triumph over the visiting Nixon-Smiley Mustangs (Nixon, TX), 39-0 in a league battle.

With the win, Poth advances its record to 5-0 on the season. The Pirates travel to Cotulla (Cotulla, TX) to play the Cowboys in a 3A-2 Region IV District 15 battle on Friday, October 11. The Cowboys go into the battle with a record of 4-1. Cotulla won 6-0 in their recent league contest against Stockdale (Stockdale, TX)

Coming up next, the Mustangs battle the Natalia Mustangs (Natalia, TX) in a 3A-2 Region IV District 15 contest, on Friday, October 11. Nixon-Smiley will attempt to better on its 1-4 season record. The Mustangs enter the contest with a 1-4 record after their 50-14 league loss to Karnes City (Karnes City, TX).
