The McMinn County Cherokees football squad scored 43 points and restricted the visiting Sweetwater Wildcats to 7 in the Cherokees non-league victory on Thursday.

The Cherokees now possess a 5-2 record. They put it on the line next when they host Walker Valley for a 5A Region 4 battle on Friday, October 14. McMinn County will face a Mustangs squad coming off a 25-14 league win over Rhea County (Evensville, TN). The Mustangs record now stands at 3-4.

Coming up next, the Wildcats face the Brainerd Panthers (Chattanooga, TN) in a 3A Region 3 battle, on Thursday, October 13. Sweetwater will attempt to advance on its 5-2 season record. The Panthers enter the battle with a 3-5 record after their 28-14 league win over Loudon (Loudon, TN).
