Game Story

North Carolina High School Football - New Hanover nips Laney

October 7, 2022: Wilmington, NC 28401

In Friday's league match, the host New Hanover Wildcats football squad scored a close 23-21 victory over the Laney Buccaneers.

In their next game, the Wildcats clash with the Topsail Pirates (Hampstead, NC) in a 3A/4A East Conference 20 match, on Friday, October 14. New Hanover will attempt to move on its 7-1 season record. The Pirates enter the match with a 4-3 record after their 28-21 league win over West Brunswick (Shallotte, NC).

The Buccaneers (4-3) will now prepare for their match against South Brunswick (Southport, NC). The Cougars enter the 3A/4A East Conference 20 match with a 4-3 record. In their last match, South Brunswick held off Ashley (Wilmington, NC), 52-7, in a league match.
