The Vela Sabercats basketball team scored 53 points and held the visiting Harlingen South Hawks to 51 in the Sabercats non-league triumph on Saturday.

The Sabercats now sport a 1-0 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to United for a non-league contest on Tuesday, November 16. Vela will meet a Longhorns team coming off a 66-44 non-league win over Stevens (San Antonio, TX). The Longhorns record now stands at 1-0.

The Hawks (0-1) will now prepare for their contest against Rowe (McAllen, TX). The Warriors enter the non-league contest with a 1-0 record. In their last contest, Rowe nudged Edinburg North (Edinburg, TX), 59-53, in a non-league contest.
