In Saturday's non-league contest, the host Nixon Mustangs basketball team scored a big 47-16 triumph over the Edinburg North Cougars.

The Mustangs (2-1) will now prepare for their contest against United (Laredo, TX). The Longhorns enter the non-league match with a 7-0 record. In their last match, United overwhelmed Incarnate Word (San Antonio, TX), 77-31, in a non-league match.

The Cougars now own a 2-4 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Weslaco East for a non-league match on Tuesday, November 18. Edinburg North will confront a Wildcats team coming off a 33-25 non-league loss to Mission (Mission, TX). The Wildcats record now stands at 3-3.
