The crowd at Friday's non-league challenge between the Springfield Spartans (Akron, OH) and the host Black River Pirates (Sullivan, OH), observed Springfield's basketball team knock off Black River by a score of 36-23.

The Spartans (1-0) will now prepare for their challenge against Cloverleaf (Lodi, OH). The Colts come into the Metro challenge with a 1-0 record. In their last bout, Cloverleaf achieved victory over Barberton (Barberton, OH), 52-36, in a non-league bout.

With the loss, Black River falls to 0-1 on the campaign. The Pirates travel to Orrville (Orrville, OH) to play the Red Riders in a non-league bout on Wednesday, November 27. The Red Riders go into the bout with a record of 1-0. Orrville won 61-31 in their recent non-league bout against Crestview (Ashland, OH)
