November 22, 2024: Memphis, TN 38141 The Bluff City Gray Wolves basketball squad (Memphis, TN), was crushed 69-37 in Friday's non-league battle with the host Memphis School of Excellence Winchester Eagles (Memphis, TN)
With the victory, Memphis School of Excellence Winchester advances its record to 3-0 on the year. The Eagles host University (Memphis, TN) to meet the Tigers in a non-league battle on Saturday, November 23. The Tigers enter the battle with a record of 0-0.
The Gray Wolves now own a 0-2 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to St. George's for a non-league battle on Monday, November 25.
First Quarter
The game started with the Memphis School of Excellence Eagles having a rocky start. The Bluff City Wolves took advantage of this, getting a quick 4-0 lead on MSEW. The Eagles quickly struck back going on a 9-0 run to capture the lead. While allowing the Wolves to only score 3 more points, MSE extended 5 point lead to 9.
Second Quarter
The Wolves had a great second Quarter. Bluff City was able to withhold the Eagles to only 9 points in the quarter. While putting on a great display of physicality, the Wolves scored twice as much as the Eagles. Due to Tatianna Woods going down with an ankle injury, MSE lost a lot of their momentum.
Third Quarter
Starting the second half, MSE came out dominant. Holding Bluff City to only 6 points in the quarter, the Eagles put on a defensive clinic. With 12 steals and 3 blocks in the quarter, MSE completely shut down the Wolves while notching 24 points in the books. Tatianna Woods, fighting through an injury, scored 12 points in the quarter. She finished the quarter out with two back to back spectacular and-1 plays.
Fourth Quarter
In the last quarter, the Eagles picked up right where they left off. While once again holding the Wolves to 6 points in the quarter, MSE continued to dominate. The Eagles held Bluff city scoreless from 2:39 left in the 3rd quarter until 3:19 in the 4th quarter. In this time span, MSE went on a 23 point run. They ended up scoring 44 points in only a half. The team showed amazing teamwork with 14 assists on 28 made shots.
