The Middle College Cougars basketball team scored 42 points and restricted the host Huntington Park Spartans to 41 in the Cougars non-league victory on Wednesday.

The Cougars now sport a 1-0 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Jefferson for a non-league contest on Friday, December 2. Middle College will battle a Democrats team coming off a 84-77 non-league loss to Elizabeth (Cudahy, CA). The Democrats record now stands at 0-3.

The Spartans (0-1) will now prepare for their contest against Maywood Academy (Maywood, CA). The Nighthawks come into the non-league contest with a 3-3 record. In their last contest, Maywood Academy was nudged by Garfield (Los Angeles, CA), 83-34, in a non-league contest.
