Fans at Thursday's non-league challenge between the South Mecklenburg Sabres (Charlotte, NC) and the host Independence Patriots (Charlotte, NC), saw South Mecklenburg's basketball squad knock off Independence by a count of 28-14.

With the victory, South Mecklenburg upgrades its record to 2-1 on the campaign. The Sabres host Mallard Creek (Charlotte, NC) to play the Mavericks in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, December 5. The Mavericks come into the challenge with a record of 1-0. Mallard Creek won 17-11 in their recent non-league challenge against East Forsyth (Kernersville, NC)
