Mt. Vernon Rams (Mt. Vernon, IL) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Centralia Orphans (Centralia, IL), 49-42 in a league bout.

With the victory, Mt. Vernon upgrades its record to 3-2 on the campaign. The Rams host Salem (Salem, IL) to play the Wildcats in a non-league bout on Saturday, December 3. The Wildcats come into the bout with a record of 2-3. Salem lost 68-34 in their recent league bout against Breese Central (Breese, IL)

Next up, the Orphans play the Jersey Panthers (Jerseyville, IL) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, December 6. Centralia will attempt to upgrade on its 3-1 season record. The Panthers come into the bout with a 4-2 record after their 39-38 league win over Civic Memorial (Bethalto, IL).
