Kentucky High School Basketball - Powell County holds off Garrard County
December 2, 2023: Lancaster, KY 40444 Fans at Saturday's non-league challenge between the Powell County Pirates (Stanton, KY) and the host Garrard County Golden Lions (Lancaster, KY), saw Powell County's basketball squad hold off Garrard County by a tally of 61-57.
With the victory, Powell County improves its record to 2-1 on the campaign. The Pirates host Wolfe County (Campton, KY) to confront the Wolves in a non-league challenge on Monday, December 4. The Wolves come into the challenge with a record of 0-1. Wolfe County lost 74-39 in their recent non-league challenge against Knott County Central (Hindman, KY)
Next up, the Golden Lions confront the Paul Laurence Dunbar Bulldogs (Lexington, KY) in a non-league challenge, on Monday, December 4. Garrard County will attempt to improve on its 2-1 season record. The Bulldogs come into the challenge with a 3-0 record after their 59-38 non-league win over Western Hills (Frankfort, KY).
