In Thursday's non-league match, the host Grimsley Whirlies football squad scored a close 13-7 triumph over the Weddington Warriors.

The Whirlies (14-0) will now prepare for their challenge against Clayton (Clayton, NC). The Comets go into the non-league challenge with a 12-2 record. In their last challenge, Clayton nipped Cardinal Gibbons (Raleigh, NC), 35-32, in a non-league challenge.
