California High School Basketball - Loyalton falls to Princeton
December 5, 2023: Princeton, CA 95970 In Tuesday's league match, the host Princeton Eagles basketball team scored a good 49-39 triumph over the Loyalton Grizzlies.
In their next game, the Eagles meet the Los Molinos Bulldogs (Los Molinos, CA) in a non-league match, on Thursday, December 7. Princeton will attempt to better on its 3-0 season record. The Bulldogs enter the match with a 2-3 record after their 71-41 non-league win over Trinity (Weaverville, CA).
With the defeat, Loyalton moves to 3-3 on the year. The Grizzlies travel to Portola (Portola, CA) to meet the Tigers in a non-league match on Thursday, December 7. The Tigers enter the match with a record of 1-3. Portola lost 54-49 in their recent non-league match against Quincy (Quincy, CA)
First Quarter
Princeton came out blazing hitting 5 three point buckets in the first quarter. Loyalton stemmed the tide with 3 of their own.
Second Quarter
Second quarter was all Princeton, holding the Grizzlies to just 6 points and taking a 12 point lead into intermission.
Third Quarter
The third the Grizzlies decided to try to make it a game cutting the lead down to one and holding the Eagles to just 4 points.
Fourth Quarter
After an incredible 3rd quarter there was nothing left in the tank for the Grizzlies and they only mustered 5 points against a swarming Eagle defense.
Princeton avenged their loss to Loyalton in the NSCIF Section Championship and handed the Loyalton Grizzlies their first league loss since Feb. of 2017.
