Ohio High School Basketball - Fayetteville-Perry topples Lynchburg-Clay
December 6, 2022: Lynchburg, OH 45142 In Tuesday's league outing, the Fayetteville-Perry Rockets (Fayetteville, OH) basketball squad beat the host Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs (Lynchburg, OH), by a margin of 32-19.
The Rockets (1-0) will now prepare for their outing against Whiteoak (Mowrystown, OH). The Wildcats go into the outing with a 0-0 record.
The Mustangs now own a 0-1 record.
First Quarter
It was a fast start for Fayetteville as they scored right from the tip off. Keegan Craycraft passed to Blake Rugenstein for an easy layup. Unfortunately, the rest of the quarter the Rockets would only manage two more points on a bucket by Jack South. Defense Held Lynchburg to two points as the Rockets lead 4-2 after 1.
Second Quarter
The second quarter wasn't any better for the Rockets. After several turnovers and many missed shots, Fayetteville managed only 2 points and trailed at halftime 7-6.
Third Quarter
The Rockets finally got some offense going in the third quarter. They were able to knock down 3, 3 pointers in the quarter lead by Ayden Wells with 2 treys and 8 points in the quarter. Camden Polston also added 5 points in the quarter including a long range 3. Rockets would score 15 points in the quarter and take a 21-15 lead into the 4th.
Fourth Quarter
Fayetteville was able to pull away in the fourth quarter over Lynchburg, mainly because of their defense. Only surrendering 4 points in the quarter and 19 total points total. Keegan Craycraft led the fourth quarter charge scoring 6 of his 8 points in the fourth quarter. Fayetteville would go on to win the game 32-19.
