Texas High School Basketball - Abilene holds off Merkel
December 6, 2022: Abilene, TX 79603 Fans at Tuesday's non-league challenge between the Abilene Eagles (Abilene, TX) and the visiting Merkel Badgers (Merkel, TX), saw Abilene's basketball squad hold off Merkel by a tally of 41-38.
With the victory, Abilene improves its record to 9-7 on the campaign. The Eagles travel to Hawley (Hawley, TX) to confront the Bearcats in a non-league challenge on Friday, December 9. The Bearcats come into the challenge with a record of 6-4. Hawley won 37-27 in their recent non-league challenge against Eula (Clyde, TX)
Next up, the Badgers confront the Hico Tigers (Hico, TX) in a non-league challenge, on Friday, December 9. Merkel will attempt to improve on its 3-3 season record. The Tigers come into the challenge with a 4-9 record after their 36-28 non-league loss to Gorman (Gorman, TX).
