Idaho High School Basketball - Wilder trounced by Cascade
December 6, 2023: Cascade, ID 83611 The Cascade Ramblers routed the visiting Wilder Wildcats basketball team by a final score of 65-13 in Wednesday's non-league game.
In their next game, the Ramblers face the Hansen Huskies (Hansen, ID) in a non-league game, on Friday, December 8. Cascade will attempt to move on its 2-0 season record.
With the defeat, Wilder moves to 0-4 on the year. The Wildcats travel to Garden Valley (Garden Valley, ID) to face the Wolverines in a non-league game on Wednesday, December 20. The Wolverines enter the game with a record of 2-0. Garden Valley won 70-53 in their recent league game against Horseshoe Bend (Horseshoe Bend, ID)
First Quarter
The Ramblers came out in a hurry putting up 22 points, many off fast-break opportunities, in the first quarter. Their intense team defense held the Wildcats to just 2 points in the eight minutes of play.
Second Quarter
Cascade repeated their first-quarter performance scoring 18 points in the second quarter. Once again their rigorous and unified defensive front held the Wildcats to just another 2 points in the second quarter.
Ramblers went into halftime up 40 to 4.
Third Quarter
In the 3rd quarter the Ramblers came out intent on running their offense and looking for areas to improve. After the first 4 minutes the starters were pulled and several players off the bench got their first minutes of the game. The Ramblers added to their lead by 14 with Samuel Huckaby working in the paint to put up 6 of those.
The Wildcats managed to get some points against Cascade's second team putting the ball in the basket for 6 more points.
Fourth Quarter
The game ended under a running clock due to the mercy rule. Cascade scored another 11 points to round out the game, stepping up their defense and holding the Wildcats to just 3 in the fourth quarter.
Final score: Cascade 65 - Wilder 13.
