Ohio High School Basketball - Whiteoak nipped by Fayetteville-Perry
December 7, 2022: Mowrystown, OH 45155 The Fayetteville-Perry Rockets tipped the host Whiteoak Wildcats basketball team by a final score of 53-47 in Wednesday's league game.
In their next game, the Rockets face the Goshen Warriors (Goshen, OH) in a non-league game, on Saturday, December 17. Fayetteville-Perry will attempt to move on its 2-0 season record.
With the defeat, Whiteoak moves to 0-1 on the year.
First Quarter
First quarter went back and forth as Whiteoak would take the lead 14-12 going into the second quarter. Ayden Wells paced the Rockets with 2, 3 pointers, and Blake Rugenstein added a couple buckets, to help Fayetteville stay close.
Second Quarter
Rockets pour it on Whiteoak in the second quarter outscoring them 19-5 to take a commanding 31-19 lead into halftime. Camden Polston drained a couple 3's. Alex Williamson and Jack South would add two buckets a piece to help pace the Rocket offense.
Third Quarter
Jack South made some beautiful moves in the paint to score a couple buckets. Keegan Craycraft would excite the crowd with a 3 from long range at the buzzer to extend the lead to 42-29 at the end of 3.
Fourth Quarter
Whiteoak would make a furious comeback, trailing by only 4 points with over a minute to play. A Warren Murphy layup and Ayden Wells 3/4 from the free throw line sealed the win for Fayetteville and improving their record to 2-0 on the young season.
