Mississippi High School Basketball - Lamar Christian crushes Newton County Academy
December 8, 2023: Decatur, MS 39327 Lamar Christian Lions (Purvis, MS) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the host Newton County Academy Generals (Decatur, MS), 57-23 in a league bout.
With the win, Lamar Christian upgrades its record to 11-3 on the season. The Lions host Sylva Bay Academy (Bay Springs, MS) to play the Saints in a MAIS 3A District 3 bout on Tuesday, December 12. The Saints go into the bout with a record of 6-4. Sylva Bay Academy won 48-26 in their recent league bout against Discovery Christian (Florence, MS)
Next up, the Generals play the Laurel Christian Lions (Laurel, MS) in a MAIS 3A District 3 bout, on Friday, December 15. Newton County Academy will attempt to upgrade on its 0-2 season record. The Lions go into the bout with a 2-8 record after their 66-36 league loss to Ben's Ford Christian (Bogalusa, LA).
