December 8, 2025: Albion, IL 62806 Edwards County Lions (Albion, IL) supporters left the game satisfied Monday as they witnessed their basketball squad notch a victory over the visiting Newton Eagles (Newton, IL), 62-51 in a non-league match.
With the triumph, Edwards County betters its record to 5-3 on the campaign. The Lions host Mt. Carmel (Mt. Carmel, IL) to battle the Golden Aces in a non-league contest on Wednesday, December 10. The Golden Aces go into the contest with a record of 7-3. Mt. Carmel won 64-36 in their recent league contest against Lawrenceville (Lawrenceville, IL)
Next up, the Eagles face the Robinson Maroons (Robinson, IL) in a Little Illini game, on Thursday, December 11. Newton will attempt to better on its 4-3 season record. The Maroons go into the game with a 2-5 record after their 62-34 league win over Casey-Westfield (Casey, IL).
