Texas High School Basketball - Santa Maria tops Progreso
December 9, 2022: Santa Maria, TX 78592 Santa Maria Cougars (Santa Maria, TX) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Progreso Red Ants (Progreso, TX), 52-39 in a non-league bout.
With the victory, Santa Maria upgrades its record to 1-5 on the campaign. The Cougars host Kaufer (Riviera, TX) to play the Seahawks in a 2A Region IV District 32 bout on Tuesday, December 13. The Seahawks come into the bout with a record of 6-2. Kaufer won 36-25 in their recent non-league bout against Santa Rosa (Santa Rosa, TX)
Next up, the Red Ants play the IDEA Riverview Rockets (Brownsville, TX) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, December 10. Progreso will attempt to upgrade on its 9-7 season record. The Rockets come into the bout with a 0-5 record after their 74-15 non-league loss to Harvest Christian (Edinburg, TX).
