The Union Area Scotties basketball team scored 61 points and held the host McDonald Blue Devils to 30 in the Scotties non-league triumph on Friday.

The Scotties now sport a 1-0 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Slippery Rock for a non-league contest on Saturday, December 11. Union Area will meet a Rockets team coming off a 63-34 non-league win over Mohawk Area (Bessemer, PA). The Rockets record now stands at 1-0.

The Blue Devils (1-4) will now prepare for their contest against Mineral Ridge (Mineral Ridge, OH). The Rams enter the Mahoning Valley - Scarlet contest with a 0-3 record. In their last contest, Mineral Ridge was routed by Garfield (Garrettsville, OH), 66-29, in a non-league contest.
