Illinois High School Basketball - Springfield trounces Alton
December 11, 2021: Springfield, IL 62704 The Springfield Senators (Springfield, IL) basketball crushed the visiting Alton Redbirds (Alton, IL), 55-27 in Saturday's non-league test.
The Senators (6-4) will now prepare for their test against Normal University (Normal, IL). The Pioneers go into the Central State Eight test with a 3-5 record. In their last test, Normal University was trounced by Springfield Southeast (Springfield, IL), 47-38, in a league test.
The Redbirds now own a 0-3 record. They play next when they host Belleville East for a Southwestern test on Friday, December 17. Alton will encounter a Lancers squad coming off a 54-39 league win over Edwardsville (Edwardsville, IL). The Lancers record now stands at 6-1.
