Fans at Sunday's non-league challenge between the Union Area Scotties (New Castle, PA) and the visiting Fairview Tigers (Fairview, PA), saw Union Area's basketball squad hold off Fairview by a tally of 50-46.

With the victory, Union Area improves its record to 1-0 on the campaign. The Scotties host Riverside (Ellwood City, PA) to play the Panthers in a non-league challenge on Thursday, December 22. The Panthers come into the challenge with a record of 1-5.

Next up, the Tigers play the Sharon Tigers (Sharon, PA) in a non-league challenge, on Wednesday, December 14. Fairview will attempt to improve on its 1-3 season record. The Tigers come into the challenge with a 3-2 record after their 65-50 non-league win over Mercer (Mercer, PA).
