In Thursday's non-league contest, the host Montgomery Bears basketball team scored a big 67-35 triumph over the Porter Spartans.

The Bears (12-3) will now prepare for their contest against Brenham (Brenham, TX). The Cubs go into the 5A Region III District 17 contest with a 11-6 record. In their last contest, Brenham smashed Angleton (Angleton, TX), 68-55, in a non-league contest.
