Texas High School Basketball - Elgin defeats La Vernia
December 12, 2025: Elgin, TX 78621 The Elgin Wildcats (Elgin, TX) basketball thwarted the visiting La Vernia Bears (La Vernia, TX), 52-42 in Friday's non-league challenge.
The Wildcats (6-6) will now prepare for their challenge against Georgetown (Georgetown, TX). The Eagles come into the 5A Region III District 23 challenge with a 2-14 record. In their last challenge, Georgetown was outscored by Copperas Cove (Copperas Cove, TX), 45-21, in a non-league battle.
The Bears now own a 9-5 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Manor New Tech for a non-league battle on Saturday, December 13. La Vernia will face a Titans team coming off a 70-62 non-league loss to FBCHA (Richmond, TX). The Titans record now stands at 10-2.
