December 12, 2025: Floydada, TX 79235 The Vernon Lions bounced the host Floydada Whirlwinds basketball team by a tally of 76-45 in Friday's non-league bout.
The Lions now possess a 7-2 record. They play next when they travel to Wheeler for a non-league bout on Saturday, December 13. Vernon will play a Mustangs team coming off a 62-42 non-league win over Non Varsity Tournament Opponent (, ). The Mustangs record now stands at 3-3.
With the loss, Floydada falls to 2-8 on the campaign. The Whirlwinds travel to Littlefield (Littlefield, TX) to play the Wildcats in a non-league bout on Tuesday, December 16. The Wildcats go into the bout with a record of 6-5. Littlefield lost 55-46 in their recent non-league test against Farwell (Farwell, TX)
