The crowd at Friday's non-league challenge between the Yates Lions (Houston, TX) and the host Willis Wildkats (Willis, TX), observed Yates's basketball team edge Willis by a score of 84-81.

The Lions (9-1) will now prepare for their battle against North Forest (Houston, TX). The Bulldogs enter the 4A Region III District 20 battle with a 0-5 record. In their last battle, North Forest was nudged by Sharpstown (Houston, TX), 42-39, in a non-league battle.

The Wildkats now own a 7-5 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Cleveland for a 6A Region II District 13 battle on Tuesday, December 16. Willis will meet a Indians squad coming off a 56-38 non-league loss to Brazoswood (Clute, TX). The Indians record now stands at 1-10.
