December 12, 2025: Esmond, RI 02917 The crowd at Friday's non-league challenge between the Ponaganset Chieftains (North Scituate, RI) and the host Smithfield Sentinels (Esmond, RI), observed Ponaganset's basketball team overwhelm Smithfield by a score of 59-36.
The Chieftains (1-0) will now prepare for their challenge against Classical (Providence, RI). The Purple come into the Division I challenge with a 0-0 record.
In their next game, the Sentinels encounter the West Warwick Wizards (West Warwick, RI) in a non-league battle, on Tuesday, December 30. Smithfield will attempt to advance on its 0-1 season record.
