North Carolina High School Basketball - Swain County nips Owen
December 13, 2023: Bryson City, NC 28713 Fans at Wednesday's non-league challenge between the Swain County Maroon Devils (Bryson City, NC) and the visiting Owen Warhorses (Black Mountain, NC), saw Swain County's basketball squad hold off Owen by a count of 67-66.
With the victory, Swain County upgrades its record to 3-3 on the campaign. The Maroon Devils travel to Hayesville (Hayesville, NC) to play the Yellowjackets in a 1A Smoky Mountain challenge on Friday, December 15. The Yellowjackets come into the challenge with a record of 4-2. Hayesville won 39-38 in their recent non-league challenge against Highlands (Highlands, NC)
Next up, the Warhorses play the Draughn Wildcats (Valdese, NC) in a 1A/2A Western Highlands challenge, on Friday, December 15. Owen will attempt to upgrade on its 1-6 season record. The Wildcats come into the challenge with a 2-4 record after their 80-46 non-league loss to East Burke (Connelly Springs, NC).
