Ohio High School Basketball - Southern toppled by Portsmouth
December 13, 2025: Portsmouth, OH 45662 Portsmouth Trojans (Portsmouth, OH) boosters left the game satisfied Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad notch a victory over the visiting Southern Tornadoes (Racine, OH), 67-59 in a non-league match.
With the victory, Portsmouth upgrades its record to 2-0 on the year. The Trojans travel to Dawson-Bryant (Coal Grove, OH) to confront the Hornets in a Ohio Valley contest on Monday, December 15. The Hornets go into the contest with a record of 1-1. Dawson-Bryant lost 52-50 in their recent non-league contest against Notre Dame (Portsmouth, OH)
In their next game, the Tornadoes confront the Belpre Golden Eagles (Belpre, OH) in a Tri-Valley II outing, on Monday, December 15. Southern will attempt to upgrade on its 2-2 season record. The Golden Eagles enter the outing with a 3-3 record after their 42-33 league loss to Federal Hocking (Stewart, OH).
