Newport Greyhounds (Newport, AR) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the host Maynard Tigers (Maynard, AR), 66-45 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Newport upgrades its record to 9-4 on the season. The Greyhounds travel to Cave City (Cave City, AR) to play the Cavemen in a 3A Region 2 bout on Friday, December 16. The Cavemen go into the bout with a record of 0-2.

Next up, the Tigers play the Armorel Tigers (Armorel, AR) in a 1A Region 3 bout, on Tuesday, January 3. Maynard will attempt to upgrade on its 0-9 season record.
