The Newport Wildcats (Newport, KY) basketball nipped the host Huntington Prep Kings (Huntington, WV), 58-55 in Friday's non-league test.

The Wildcats (6-1) will now prepare for their test against Washington County (Springfield, KY). The Commanders go into the non-league test with a 6-0 record. In their last test, Washington County got by Nelson County (Bardstown, KY), 59-48, in a league test.

The Kings now own a 2-2 record. They play next when they travel to Columbus for a non-league test on Tuesday, January 9.
