The Edwin O. Smith Panthers basketball team scored 40 points and held the visiting Newington Nor'easters to 39 in the Panthers non-league triumph on Friday.

The Panthers now sport a 2-0 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to New London for a non-league contest on Monday, December 18.

The Nor'easters (1-1) will now prepare for their contest against Middletown (Middletown, CT). The Blue Dragons enter the non-league contest with a 1-1 record. In their last contest, Middletown nudged Maloney (Meriden, CT), 73-26, in a league contest.
