The Piute Thunderbirds (Junction, UT) basketball nipped the visiting Kanab Cowboys (Kanab, UT), 58-56 in Friday's non-league test.

The Thunderbirds (7-1) will now prepare for their test against Diamond Ranch Academy (Hurricane, UT). The Diamondbacks go into the 1A Region 20 test with a 3-6 record. In their last test, Diamond Ranch Academy was tipped by Tabiona (Tabiona, UT), 77-46, in a non-league test.

The Cowboys now own a 7-1 record. They play next when they host El Capitan/Centennial Academy for a non-league test on Tuesday, December 20. Kanab will encounter a squad coming off a 64-47 league win over Grand Canyon (Grand Canyon, AZ). The record now stands at 11-1.
