Fans at Friday's non-league challenge between the Van Alstyne Panthers (Van Alstyne, TX) and the visiting Melissa Cardinals (Melissa, TX), saw Van Alstyne's basketball squad hold off Melissa by a tally of 38-35.

With the victory, Van Alstyne improves its record to 12-6 on the campaign. The Panthers travel to Dodd City (Dodd City, TX) to confront the Hornets in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, December 20. The Hornets come into the challenge with a record of 5-1. Dodd City lost 47-32 in their recent non-league challenge against Rains (Emory, TX)

Next up, the Cardinals confront the Greenville Lions (Greenville, TX) in a 5A Region II District 13 challenge, on Tuesday, December 20. Melissa will attempt to improve on its 8-11 season record.
