Fans at Saturday's non-league challenge between the North Newton Spartans (Morocco, IN) and the host Covington Trojans (Covington, IN), saw North Newton's basketball squad hold off Covington by a tally of 42-37.

With the victory, North Newton improves its record to 4-10 on the campaign. The Spartans travel to Winamac (Winamac, IN) to confront the Warriors in a non-league challenge on Monday, December 18. The Warriors come into the challenge with a record of 8-5. Winamac lost 44-30 in their recent non-league challenge against Tippecanoe Valley (Akron, IN)
